Chetan Rai, Gangtok, 09 Jan: Akshay Sachdeva, an IPS officer of the 1991 batch, a familiar face around Sikkim, took charge as the Director General of Police, Sikkim, on Wednesday.
Shortly after taking office, he convened a meeting with SHOs stationed across Sikkim and discussed strategies and methods to maintain law and order in the state and preventing street crimes.
In his 33 years of service in Sikkim, Mr Sachdeva had held different positions including, Sikkim Armed Police Commandant, SP East, DIG (Range), IGP (Fire), IGP (Law & Order) and ADGP (Vigilance and Special Branch).
