Sikkim’s Kishor Dungmali Rai was conferred the Life Time Achievement Award in sports by the Assam Sports Association [ASA] during the closing ceremony and annual awards function of the 29th National Sports & Cultural Festival held at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir, Guwahati, on Sunday evening.
Mr Rai is an international strength-lifter from Majhitar in East Sikkim.
Strength-lifter Manisha Tiwari was awarded Best Iron Sportsperson and another strengthlifter from Sikkim, Chandra Kumar Chettri received Iron Games Award the same evening.
Likewise, Pema Choden Bhutia from Sikkim was also awarded in the category of Fashion and Fitness. The awards ceremony was also attended by international athlete Pema Dorjee Bhutia as a guest of honour.
National Sports & Cultural Festival is the annual event of Assam Sports Association to commemorate the birth anniversary of a freedom fighter and pioneer of modern competitive and adventure sports culture in North East India Kriraratna Lauhapurush Premoda Kanta Sarma.
