Chetan Rai, Gangtok 18 Feb:

Citizen Action Party-Sikkim approached the Health Secretary today to discuss the death of Ram Kumari Rai of Rabongla, who passed away due to alleged negligence after a surgery at STNM Hospital on 07 February, 2025.

Speaking to media persons this evening, the CAP members shared that it was distressing that despite more than 11 days having passed since the incident, the Department is yet to provide any inquiry report or explain what happened.

Demanding justice for the deceased and compensation for the family, CAP has further alleged that the issue needs to be addressed since people were losing faith in government hospitals, and since it was mostly the underprivileged who have no option but to seek treatment in government hospitals, the authorities should ensure better oversight.
