Martial artists from Sikkim are currently in Dimapur, Nagaland, for the Khelo India Pencak Silat Women’s League scheduled to be held there on 17 and 18 March, a press release informs. Pencak Silat, it may be recalled, is a traditional Indonesian martial art that combines strikes, grappling, and weaponry with fluid movements and self-defense techniques.
The Sikkim Pencak Silat team includes Dawki Lepcha, who only last week won the Golden Voice of Sikkim title, national medalist in Pencak Silat, Yamuna Chettri, and a young sports enthusiast, Prerna Bista, who are being accompanied by State Official & Referee, Bishnu Kr Limboo, and Prakash Bista as Team Manager.
