13 new cases take Sikkim’s Covid-count to 5,951.

GANGTOK, 06 Jan: Sikkim has registered 13 fresh cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending Wednesday morning taking the state tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far to 5951. In the meantime, the figure of the recovered cases of COVID-19 in Sikkim has further improved to 5263. There are currently 464 active cases of novel coronavirus in the State, of whom four are in the ICU facility of the COVID dedicated STNM hospital.

In the daily health bulletin on Wednesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that of the 13 new cases in the State, nine are reported in East District, three in West District and one in South District. These 13 new cases were reported from the testing of 203 samples on Tuesday, in which six were found in RT-PCR testing of 144 samples, one in TrueNat testing of nine samples and six in the rapid antigen testing of 50 samples, he informed.

While giving the details of the new cases reported in the last 24 hours, Mr Bhutia informed that one person from Lower Lingdum, Ranka, one from Libing, Shyari, one from Golay Dara, Lower Sichey, one from Metro Point, Tadong, one from Gangatey, Duga, one from Nimtar and one from Arithang. He added that two persons from Dentam and one from Gyalshing in West District and one from Rayong, Namchi and one from Tingmo in South District were also tested positive for COVID-19. He informed that one 44-years-old male from Daramdin, who gave samples at Flu Clinic of STNM hospital, was not traceable over the given phone number and urged to contact the concerned authority.
