14 new cases and 11 new recoveries in Sikkim
Gangtok, 28 Oct:
Sikkim recorded 14 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the state’s tally of confirmed cases to 31,939.
These 14 cases were picked up from the testing of 410 samples yesterday, giving Sikkim a daily test positivity rate of 3.4%. As those tracking the Covid numbers in Sikkim will have noticed, the test positivity rate has remained inconsistent, suggesting that the pattern of tracing and testing could still use some better planning and execution.
That said, the absolute number of infections continue to remain thankfully low and fatality has also gone down substantially.
As per the Daily Report of COVID-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of the Health Department, while 12 of the new cases were detected in RT-PCR testing of 293 samples, two more tested positive in rapid antigen testing of 115 samples. Ten of the cases were registered in East District, two in West District and two in South Sikkim.
There were no new Covid deaths in the past 24 hours and the Covid toll continues to hold at 395.
In the meantime, eleven more patients were discharged from home isolation after making full recoveries yesterday to further improve the number of recovered cases to 31, 041. The state’s current recovery rate stands at 98.2%.

With 2,742 more people completing their vaccination schedule with the second dose yesterday, the number of fully vaccinated adults in Sikkim now stands at 4,44,166 which makes up 85.91% of the population eligible to be vaccinated in the State.
