142 new Covid cases in Sikkim at TPR of 23%

Sikkim recorded 142 new cases of novel coronavirus at a Test Positivity Rate of 23% in the last 24 hours taking the state's tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 20,324. These 142 new cases were detected from the testing of 615 samples on Monday. Covid also claimed one more life in the state over the same 24 hours when a patient passed away at STNM Hospital. Sikkim has now lost 305 lives to Covid. The COVID death has been reported from STNM hospital.

In the meantime, 103 formerly Covid-positive people overcame the virus and were discharged from home and facility isolation on Monday after making complete recoveries. The number of recovered cases of COVID-19 in the state stands at 17,702.

There are currently 2,065 active cases of Covid-19 in the State, of these only seven have symptoms severe enough to require admissions in ICU facilities at STNM Hospital and Central Referral Hospital. In what can only be seen as a sign that resilience against the virus is growing in Sikkim, hospitals saw only four new admissions and the total number of Covid patients in hospital now stands at 100.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of the Health Department, while 78 samples returned positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR testing of 284 samples, 63 persons tested positive in rapid antigen testing of 325 samples and one more case picked up in TruNat testing of six samples.

Of the 142 new cases, 85 were registered in East District, 31 in West District, 19 in South District and 07 in North District.
