15 new cases and 13 days without any Covid deaths in Sikkim
Gangtok, 02 Dec:
Sikkim recorded 15 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the number of confirmed cases detected in the State since testing began on 28 Feb, 2020 to 32,267. These 15 cases were picked up from the testing of 330 samples yesterday to give Sikkim a daily test positivity rate of 4.5%.
As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, while 13 of the new cases registered were in East District, where 192 tests were conducted, the remaining two were registered in West District where 89 tests were conducted. All the 39 tests conducted in South Sikkim and 10 in North district yesterday returned negative.
The IDSP report further informs that while 10 people tested positive in RT-PCR testing of 165 samples, two cases were detected in TruNat testing of three samples and three of the 162 samples put through rapid antigen testing returned positive.
In what must reassure people here is that Sikkim has recorded no Covid deaths since 18 November and the toll has held at 403 since then.
In the meantime, five more COVID patients made full recoveries and were discharged from home isolation on Wednesday to further improve the count of recovered cases to 31,387. Sikkim’s current recovery rate stands at 98.3%.
There are 137 active cases of Covid-19 in the state at present, of whom only 14 are admitted in hospital and the rest are recovering under home isolation. There is no under 18 year old Covid patient admitted in hospital at present.
Meanwhile, two of the 14 in hospital are currently admitted in ICU facilities at STNM hospital and Central Referral Hospital.
On the vaccination front, the state administered 758 doses of Covishield on Wednesday, following which 70 people received their first dose while 688 people completed their vaccination schedule with the second dose.
