2 more Covid Patients breathe their last in Sikkim even as infections slow down
GANGTOK, 11 Aug: Sikkim’s covid-19 related death toll stands at 479 on Thursday with two more covid deaths reported in the last 24 hours in the State. In a somber note, deaths of an 80-years-old man from Daragaon, Tadong and 79-years-old man from Bermiok, Chalamthang have been reported from the Central Referral Hospital, Tadong. With these two new covid deaths, five covid deaths have been reported in last three days in the State.
On the other hand, 75 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours taking Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of covid-19 to 42,948. According to the daily covid-19 report released by Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department the daily positivity rate of covid-19 comes at 9.17% with these 75 new cases were reported from the testing of 772 samples. A total of 65 new cases were reported in the rapid antigen testing of 662 samples and 10 more cases were found in RT-PCR testing of 110 samples. Out of 75 new cases in the State, 24 cases were reported in Gangtok district, 09 in Pakyong district, 08 in Gyalshing district, 11 in Soreng district, 13 in Namchi district and 10 in Mangan district.
In the meantime, the numbers of active cases of coronavirus further slips to 388 in Sikkim with 82 new recoveries of covid patients in the State. The figure of the recovered cases of covid-19 has now reached 41,302 in the State.
As per IDSP report out of 388 active cases in the State, four covid patients are currently admitted in ICU facilities and four patients are in HDU facilities of hospitals in the State. Seven new covid patients have been hospitalized taking the numbers of covid patients currently hospitalized in Sikkim to 24.
Likewise, 1,905 persons have received the precaution doses of Covishield and 60 persons also got the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine on Wednesday in Sikkim, while 122 children in the age group of 15 to 18 years got Covaxin doses and 59 children of the age group 12 to 14 years received doses of CorBevax yesterday in the State.
