2 new cases, 980 vaccinated
GANGTOK, 31 Mar: The fight against COVID-19 in Sikkim continued with 980 more persons getting vaccinated against the virus in different parts of the State on Tuesday. Of the 980, 815 persons received the first shot of the vaccine and 165 persons have completed their vaccination schedule with the second dose. In his daily health bulletin on Wednesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia mentioned that 646 persons [508 first dose & 138 second dose] in East District, 310 persons [233 first dose & with COVID vaccines. est District and 24 persons [14 first dose & 10 second dose] in North District were provided with COVID vaccines.While giving details of category- wise break-up, he entioned that 99 healthcare workers [71 first dose & 28 second dose], 153 frontline workers [58 first dose & 95 second dose], 153 persons [145 first dose & 08 second dose] in age group of 45 to 59 years and 575 persons [541 first dose & 34 second dose] in age group of 60 years & above were vaccinated for COVID-19. In the meantime, two new cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours in Sikkim. The new cases were reported from the testing of 173 samples on Tuesday and both cases were found in RT-PCR testing of 143 samples. Mr Bhutia mentioned that one person from Daragaon Jorethang in South District and one primary contact from Pakyong in East District reported positive for COVID-19. There are now 47 active cases of coronavirus in the State with the release of three more persons from home isolations on Tuesday. Sikkim’s tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19
has now reached 6235, which also includes 5955 recovered cases of COVID-19.
