2 new cases and 536 morevaccinated in Sikkim
Gangtok, 26 Feb: Two new cases of Novel Coronavirus were reported in Sikkim in the past 24 hours while 536 more Covid-19 vaccination shots were administered across the State today. The two new cases come rural Sikkim with a person from Namcheybong, East Sikkim, and one from Uttarey in West
Sikkim testing positive for nCoV from among the 176 samples which were tested yesterday. There are now 45 active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim. No one was discharged from isolation yesterday and the number of recovered cases hence holds at 5,858. In his daily health bulletin on Friday, Health
Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia, informed that two new cases were reported from
the testing of 176 samples on Thursday. Both the new cases were picked up in RTPCR testing of 142 samples, while all 17 samples tested by TrueNat and another 17 through rapid antigen testing returned
negative for COVID-19. He mentioned that the person who tested positive from Uttarey was 28-year-old Mony Hangma Limboo from Uttarey who could not be contacted on the phone number provided by her.
She has been urged to immediately contact the concerned authorities. On the vaccination front, Mr Bhutia informed a total of 536 persons - 219 healthcare workers and 317 frontline workers – were inoculated today. 76 healthcare workers were vaccinated at STNM Hospital, while 79 healthcare workers
and on frontline worker received the vaccine at Central Referral Hospital, 101 frontline workers at
Urban PHC, Gangtok, 72 frontline workers at the vaccination site at the SAP Camp at Pangthang
and 51 frontline workers at ITBP Sang in East District. Likewise, 51 healthcare workers and 29
frontline workers received the vaccine at Mangan District Hospital and 13 healthcare workers
and 63 frontline workers were inoculated at Gyalshing District Hospital.
