Summit Report

Gangtok, 04 Apr:

Sikkim’s daily test positivity rate came in at 2.5% on Monday with two Covid cases being detected from the screening of 80 samples in the last 24 hours.

With these two cases, Sikkim's run of going four days without any Covid cases being detected ended.

Testing in the previous 24 hours was nearly half the daily average since the VRD Labs, where RT-PCR tests are carried out, remain closed on Sundays.

While the virus is clearly still infecting people, no new fatality has been recorded in Sikkim since 27 March and the Covid toll continues to hold at 452.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, while one case was picked up in RT-PCR testing of 44 samples, the second was detected in TruNat testing of two samples and all the 34 samples screened via Rapid Antigen Testing returned negative. Both cases were registered in East District.

Also in the past 24 hours, three more Covid patients made full recoveries and were discharged from home isolation to further improve the number of recovered cases to 37,938. Sikkim's current recovery rate stands at 98.8%.

There are now five active cases of Covid in the State, of whom one is currently admitted in the ICU at Central Referral Hospital, Tadong, while four are on their way to recovery under home isolation.
