Free SNT travel for journalists in Sikkim

Gangtok, 07 June:

The Transport Department has decided to provide free bus travel to journalists working in Sikkim. The department today asked the Press Club of Sikkim to provide the list of journalists working in the state.

A PCS press release informs that the executive committee of PCS met the Transport Department Secretary on 14 June last year and had submitted an application to provide free passes for SNT buses to journalists working in Sikkim.

The release adds that accepting the request of the PCS, the Transport Department has announced to provide free passes to accredited journalists recognised by the State Information & Public Relations Department.

It is informed that the department has decided to issue two different cards, of which one can be used to travel inside the state and the other for travel outside Sikkim on SNT buses.

The release informs that the passes provided by the department will be renewed every year on the basis of the list of accredited journalists of IPR Department.

The PCS has conveyed gratitude towards the Transport Department for providing the free passes to journalists. The PCS has also thanked the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Transport Minister, DT Lepcha, for the same. The club has also extended gratitude to Transport Department Secretary, SBS Bahaduria. The club termed the decision as an important achievement for journalists.
