Sikkim Football Association held their annual general meeting at Football House here today. 41 members of the association attended the meeting and cast votes to elect the new president and general secretary, a press release from the association informs. The election was conducted by SFA chairpersons R. Ongmu, Chung Chung Bhutia and Susan Lachungpa who are also the members of SFA Election Commission along with Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Department, CL Rai and Sikkim Olympic Association treasurer, Dawa Tamang. Menla Ethenpa was elected the new president of SFA. For the first time, Bhaichung Bhutia, Chewang Paul Sangdarpa and Nima Thendup also exercised their franchise alongside representatives of eight Sikkim Premier Division League clubs. Mr Ethenpa thanked every member who voted for him and assured to work with dedication. “I hope from today onwards we all will work together for the development of Sikkim football. My priority is to take all the stakeholders of Sikkimese football together and make Sikkim one of the premier destinations of the game,” he conveys. “Mr Ethenpa has already served All India Football Federation as its Deputy Chairman, Competition Committee and we all hope that this will be a turning point for Sikkim Football,” SFA member, Shyam Pradhan, said. Mr Ethenpa is presently a member of the newly formed Indian Football Development Board constituted by AIFF. Nanga Tshering Bhutia was elected as the General Secretary of the association.
