Stakeholders review Impulse Case Infor Centre software
Gangtok, 12 June:
Regional Consultation Review of Impulse Case Info Center Software was held today at Sikkim Police headquarters in the capital.
The program was organised by the Impulse NGO network, a Shillong-based group actively engaged in the battle against human trafficking, in collaboration with Sikkim Police and supported by the ING Foundation.
In her welcome address, Hasina Kharbhih, Chair of Board, Impulse NGO network, said that such consultation reviews are held to understand better and to take the required steps forward to stop human trafficking.
Sanjeevan Devnath, IT consultant, Impulse NGO network, presented an overview of the Impulse case info Center software which allows stakeholders to connect on a single platform.
He added that an individual can submit cases through the software and keep track and all can participate in the process to curb this inhuman menace.
The program had the attendance of anti-human trafficking units from the state police of many north eastern states including Sikkim.
Sonam Tenzing Bhutia, SP CID Crime, Sikkim Police informed that since its launch in the State in 2015, thirty missing children cases have been uploaded in the system.
Similarly CW Wahlang, DSP, Meghalaya Police shared her experience of handling such cases. She stressed that trafficking was "multidimensional" and has many angles to it. As far as managing the situation, she said that rehabilitation was still a major concern.
Avinash Mohananey, DGP, Sikkim Police while addressing the program expressed concern pointing towards the technological divide that underprivileged still don't have access to modern facilities. He also asked all working in this cause to make technology more people friendly.
Concluding remarks were offered by Krishan Verma, Advisor, Impulse NGO network who observed that not enough has been done in this field and that one needs to go beyond the North East and reach out across the country and the world.
He also said that the software gives seamless connectivity throughout the world.
