The valedictory function of the training and awareness programme for farmers of cooperative societies on Post Harvest Management was held at Samdong NHPC conference hall in East Sikkim today.
The training was organized by Cooperation Department supported by Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Government of India.
The function had the presence of Ward Panchayat, Dhiraj Bhattarai, Additional Director-Horticulture & Cash Crops Department, N Gautam, and Principal Registrar-Cooperation Department, RK Gautam.
Senior Assistant Professor of Central Agriculture University, Gangtok, Dr AB Sherpa, imparted training on crop planning in agriculture crops for optimum water utilisation and highlighted on the main objectives of efficient water management.
Dr Kuldip Rai from Spices Board delivered on value addition of crops and importance of cooperative movement.
During the programme, Manager of Luing Perbing MPCS and President of Salghari MPCS shared their experiences while Inspector-Cooperation Department, Indramani Adhikari, underlined about the collective farming.
Principal Registrar-Cooperation Department, Mr Gautam, highlighted on the importance of the training and urged the farmers to follow the guidelines.
Farmers from Samdong, Tumin, Raley, and Kambal participated in the training and awareness programme.
