TRINAMOOL CONGRESS COUNCILLORS TAKE OATH OF OFFICE IN KALIMPONG
Kalimpong, 14 June:
Amidst a massive security bandobast, the Trinamool Congress councillors elected to the Kalimpong municipality who had skipped the last oath-taking ceremony held on 30 May were sworn in today at the District Magistrate’s office here today by the Sub Divisional Officer, Nirmalaya Gharami.
Bhim Agrawal from ward number 09 and Asif Ahmed Ansari from ward number 12 took their oaths today despite the call of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha to cease all operations at central and state government offices. The SDO office reportedly had 90% attendance of employees for the oath-taking ceremony today.
Significantly, today was the third day of the office bandh called by the Morcha.
On the streets today, there was noticeably lighter activity by GJM supporters compared to the past few days. The DM has clamped Section 144 here.
