Indo Tibetan Border Police, Sikkim organised a felicitation programme for Sikkim boys and girls teams for their outstanding performance in the recently concluded second phase of Oorja U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament held at Jammu in Jammu & Kashmir on 21 Jun at Sector headquarter, Tadong. The State teams reached Gangtok on Wednesday.
Sikkim boys team became the champions of the tournament after defeating Assam in the finals by a lone goal, while the girls team stood came in third after defeating Himachal Pradesh 4-0. Karishma Rai of Sikkim was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament in girls football.
An ITBP press release informs that now the Sikkim boys team will participate in the third phase of the tournament scheduled to be held from 08 to 25 Jul at New Delhi.
The release informs that players were welcomed by Commandant AK Phool and other officials of 13 Bn ITBP. The programme was also attended by State Youth Development Board Chairperson, KP Dahal, Sports & Youth Affairs Secretary, SD Dhakal, and Additional Director, Kamal Chettri and Sikkim Football Association president, Menla Ethenpa.
