Conveyer &Ropeway Services P. Ltd, in association with Sikkim Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, today dedicated the country’s highest altitude passenger ropeway at Tsomgo here in East Sikkim today.

The ropeway was inaugurated by Tourism MinisterUgen T. Gyatso in the presence of Transport Minister, DT Lepcha, Parliamentary SecretariesPintsoChopelLepchaand ShyamPradhan and Member of Parliament (RajyaSabha), HissayLachungpa.

“We are extremely delighted to commission India’s highest passenger ropeway. The ropeway has all kinds of safety features as per the latest technology such as rope, disc brake, rubber liners,” said CRSPL director, Rachana Mukherjee.

The inbuilt capacity of the ropeway is 800 passengers per hour (PPH). With 12 cabins, each with the capacity of transporting 6 passengers the ropeway cabin has automatic opening and closing doors.

“We feel that the ropeway will be a star attraction for the tourists and would definitely boost tourism and increase number of people visiting Tsomgo Lake. It will provide a new horizon to the beautiful state of Sikkim and provide employment opportunities for local youth and development of adjacent areas,” said CRSPL managing director, ShekharChakravarty.

“The establishment of the ropeway is a result of hard work and dedication. It is sure to bring people closer and it is a step towards a better future. The ropeway will boost tourism and provide employment to the youth of the area as well,” Minister Gyatso said in his address.
