Gangtok, 21 Jul:

The top-16 finalists of Playwin Miss Sikkim 2017 are all set for the grand finale scheduled for Sunday evening. The fourth edition of the event is being organised by a Gangtok-based event management company, Positude, themed ‘Value Education’.

The finalists have been shortlisted from around 300 contestants who participated in the audition rounds held at Gangtok and Namchi recently. The final-16 have been undergoing grooming sessions being conducted by experts from within and outside the State since 13 July.

In an interaction session with media persons here today, contestants shared that the Miss Sikkim platform provided them with an opportunity to explore and move ahead with their passions and interests.

They added that the grooming sessions have proved very helpful in boosting their confidence and helping them in overall development.

Positude CEO, Gyurmiela Bhutia, mentioned that earlier the grand finale was scheduled for 22 July has been postponed to 23 July following the week-long state mourning on the passing away of former Chief Minister, Nar Bahadru Bhandari.

“We are proud to have been associated with Miss India since last year and the top-ten of Miss Sikkim will participate in the zonal round of Miss India this year,” she said.

The event has a fashion designer from Nepal, Manish Rai, a Manipuri Transgender beauty queen, Bishesh Huirem, the reigning Miss Diva- Miss India Universe, Roshmitha Harimurthy, a lecturer of Sikkim University, Dr Swati Akshay Sachdeva and Bollywood Assistant Director, Dorji Phempu as judges.

The event also has an experienced fashion choreographer and make-up artists from Nagaland, Johnny D’ Ascoli. Anjali Chettri and Yougan Tamang are hosts for the grand finale.
