Awareness on Drug Abuse & Mental Health for Kitam students

A sensitization and awareness programme on Drug Abuse & Mental Health was organized for the students of Kitam Senior Secondary School by Sikkim Against Addiction and Towards Healthy India [SAATHI] Club of the school in collaboration with Kitam Manpur Zilla Territorial Constituency, South district, at Kitam SSS premises in South Sikkim today, a press release informs.
Panchayat President, Savitri Chettri, attended the programme as chief guest accompanied by Zilla Panchayat, KN Pradhan, Panchayats, teachers and students. Psychologist from Namchi Hospital, Reshma Subba, social worker of mental health, Binita Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police-South, Pratap Pradhan, were the main resource persons of the day.
Ms Subba highlighted the different stages of addiction and urged the students to stay away from locally available drugs.
Ms Sharma gave a speech on various symptoms of mental illness and precautionary measures to be taken while Mr Pradhan stressed on Sikkim Anti Drugs Act [SADA] and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act [POCSO] and highlighted the various legal issues and acts.
Chief guest Ms Chettri, in her brief address, applauded the students for joining hands to make the State free from drug and mental illness.
