Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial Hospital @ 100, the state level inter senior secondary school quiz competition organized by STNM Hospital as a part of the centenary celebration kicked off on Monday with the competition held at Mangan Senior Secondary School.
Six schools from the North district - Hee Gyathang Senior Secondary School, Tasa Tangey Senior Secondary School, Kalzang Gyatso Memorial Senior Secondary School, Phodong Senior Secondary School, Mangshila Senior Secondary School and Mangan Senior Secondary School participated in the North district level competition, a press release informs.
Mangan Senior Secondary School emerged victorious and was named the District Champions of the STNM @ 100 quiz competition. Meanwhile, Phodong Senior Secondary School and Mangshila Senior Secondary School came in second and third respectively.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (Mangan), Phurba Wangden Lepcha was present as the chief guest of the quiz competition. In his address, he congratulated the initiative of the organizers and congratulated the hospital for completing 100 years of its service to the people of Sikkim.
Speaking about the quiz competition, Principal, Mangan Senior Secondary School, Kamal Kumar Pandey said, “It is indeed a novel idea of the STNM Hospital to conduct a state level quiz competition as they are celebrating their centenary year. With this initiative, it certainly is providing a perspective of the historic significance of the hospital and also encouraging our young students to take up the noble profession of medicine in the years to come. I would like to also congratulate STNM Hospital for the glorious 100 years of celebration and look forward for many more years of dedicated service to the people of Sikkim.”
The quiz competition was also attended by Mangan District Hospital Chief Medical Officer, Dr Barun Subba, Forensic Department HOD of STNM Hospital, Dr OT Lepcha and other doctors of the hospital, informs the release.
