Academic Tendong Lho Rum Faat at SU

Department of Lepcha, School of Languages and Literature, Sikkim University, organised a seminar on Lepcha folktales and the screening of The Tales of the Tribes on the occasion of Tendong Lho Rum Faat, here on Wednesday.
Dr. Charisma Karthak Lepcha, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, Sikkim University, and Dr. Tara Purnima Douglas from England who has worked on the animation film on tribal folktales were the main speakers. Ney Mayal Kyoung, the animation film by Dr Douglas based on a Lepcha folktale was also screened on the day. The film has been produced by the Adivasi Arts Trust of which Dr Douglas in the secretary.
Kachyo Lepcha, Assistant Professor at Lepcha Department, and organiser of the event informs that this was the first time in Sikkim that Tendong Lho Rum Faat was celebrated in an “academic way”.
The Seminar had TK Kaul, Registrar, Sikkim University, as chief guest and was also attended by faculty and special guests.
