SKM condemns Ashok Chaurasia's statement on Sikkim-Darj merger
Gangtok, 09 Aug:
Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party convened an emergency meeting here at the party head-office today. The meeting was called to discuss the recent statement made by Ashok Chaurasia on social media where he allegedly mentioned the merger of Sikkim with Darjeeling.
In a press release issued today the party has said that Mr Chaurasia has close ties with the RSS, Central Ministers and Ministers of Sikkim and his statement on making the 22nd State bigger is very insensitive and not in the interest of Sikkim. SKM has strongly objected to such statements.
The party fully supports the Gorkhaland demand but is totally against Sikkim-Darjeeling merger, the release states.
SKM has invited members of political and non-political organizations, civil society and intellectuals to discuss this sensitive issue in a hotel at Deorali on 12 Aug, informs the press release.
