DC-SOUTH ARRANGES SPECIAL SCREENING OF ‘TOILET’ FOR ADOPTED VILLAGE
Namchi, 17 Aug:
The South District Administration today screened “Toilet, Ek Prem Katha” for students of schools under Mamley-Kamrang GPU which has been adopted under DAAV scheme (District Administration Adopted Village) as part of “Freedom from Open Defecation Week” under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Before the screening of the movie, District Collector-South and Additional District Collector-Development, Namchi, spoke on the purpose of the event and the idea behind the initiative.
“As other states are facing problem to achieve ODF (open defecation free) status, it’s worthwhile to telecast the movie to make our students aware that it’s not an easy task to get ODF status which Sikkim gained in 2016. Sikkim was the first State in India to have achieved the ODF status. It should also be noted that our South District is the first ODF district in the country,” said the DC.
He expressed gratitude to Block Administrative Centre-Namchi for supporting the cause and making the event successful.
