The Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation will be observing World Tourism Day 2017 on 27 Sept in accordance with the underlying message of the United Nations General Assembly. The World Tourism Day 2017 will be celebrated on the theme 'Sustainable Tourism - A Tool for Development.'
Sustainable Tourism will encompass the three dimensions of sustainable development- economic, social and environment to bolster environment protection, champion diverse cultural heritage and strengthen peace in the world, a press release informs.
In line with the vision of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling of making the people of Sikkim self sufficient and self reliant, the Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation will be conducting two days sensitization programme for tourist guides/tour operators and taxi drivers on 15-16 Sept, respectively, at Paryatan Bhawan in Tadong as part of the World Tourism Day Celebration 2017. The event will have key speakers from various departments and certificates of participation will be distributed by the department to the participants, the release adds.
The Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation, in the release, has requested all the concerned to be part of the sensitization programme.
