Akhil Sikkim Khas Chettri Bahun Kalyan Sangh discusses Durga Puja celebration
Gangtok, 11 Sept:
Akhil Sikkim Khas Chettri Bahun Kalyan Sangh [ASKCBKS] called a meeting on 10 Sept at Shakthipith Mandir, Majhigaon, in Jorethang, South Sikkim, with regard to the celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja and organizing a Phulpati Shova Yatra.
The meeting was organized jointly by the Milan Samaj and ASKCBKS-Jorethang branch and was chaired by Chairperson-Naya Bazaar Jorethang Municipal Corporation,Tika Gurung.
During the meeting various issues related to the celebration of Durga Puja and Shova Yatra were discussed. The meet also dissolved the old committee and constituted a new committee with the Chairperson-NJMC as the Chief Patron.
The new committee has DK Gurung as president, Puspa Sharma as vice president, Roshan Thapa as general secretary, Milan Chettri as joint secretary and Kumara Mazhi as treasurer.
DS Bista, DB Rawath, MN Gautam and CS Sharma have been appointed as advisors of the newly constituted committee.
The meeting stressed on active participation in maintaining unity for preserving the tradition and culture of the Sikkimese society.
The meeting also decided to invite all the Samajs and NGOs of Jorethang for making Phulpati Shova Yatra and the Durga Puja celebration a grand success.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on 16 Sept which will have the presence of members of other Samajs and NGOs.
It was decided during the meeting that the Puja will be conducted from 21-29 Sept with the Phulpati Shova Yatra to be held on 27 Sept and the bisarjan [immersion of Durga idol] ceremony on 30 Sept.
A mass cleanliness drive at Shakthipith Mandir was also conducted during the daylong programme by ASKCBKS, under the guidance of its president, DS Bista, and had the presence of all members of the Sangh as well as local residents.
