03 HOUSES SWEPT AWAY BY LANDSLIDES IN DARAMDIN, 97 RELOCATED
Gyalshing, 12 Sept (IPR):
The overnight rainfall has triggered landslides at various places under Daramdin BAC in West Sikkim. A team comprising of SDM (Soreng), BDO (Daramdin), Line Department officials and concerned Panchayats inspected the landslide areas today.
The affected families were immediately shifted to a safer location. As reported by the BDO, 3 houses were swept away along with several livestock. Many electricity poles along these affected areas are damaged while roads are also damaged at several points in the surrounding areas.
Sokpay Gaon, Karki Dara and Towkey Gaon are the villages badly affected from where 26 households comprising of 97 persons have been shifted to relief camps at Dodok and Buriakhop Government Schools.
Area MLA, DN Sherpa and Zilla Adhakshya (W), Devika Subba visited the landslide affected areas later in the afternoon. The team also visited relief camps and assured all possible support from the government as early as possible.
