79 Zilla and 581 Ward nominations accepted in South, 4 SDF candidates win uncontested

Namchi, 11 Oct:

Following the scrutiny process, 79 nominations were accepted for the Zilla Territorial Constituencies and 503 nominations were accepted for the Ward Panchayat elections in South District.

The scrutiny of the nominations was carried out by Panchayat Returning Officer and District Collector (South), Raj Yadav, General Observer (South), Chewang Gyatso and various election officials in Namchi today.

After the scrutiny, 79 nominations have been accepted by the election officials from 84 nominations for the Zilla Territorial Constituency level while 02 nominations have been rejected and 03 withdrawn before the scrutiny process began.

Fourty nominations have been accepted from Sumbuk Block Administrative Center with three nominations rejected and two kept on hold for hearing. From Jorethang BAC all the 27 nominations have been approved and accepted by the election officials.

Among the 35 nominations received from Sikkip BAC, 30 nominations have been accepted and one rejected by the officials. 04 of the nominations meanwhile were withdrawn before the scrutiny process.

76 nominations have been accepted by the officials from Temi BAC while six have been rejected. One nomination has been scheduled for a hearing.

From Rabong BAC, 81 nominations have been accepted while seven nominations have been rejected by the officials and 28 nominations were withdrawn.

Among the 95 nominations received from Yangang BAC, 79 have been accepted and 06 rejected by the officials while 10 nominations were withdrawn.

South District Headquarters, Namchi had registered 79 nominations among which 75 nominations have been approved with four nominations rejected and one withdrawn.

Lastly, from Namthang BAC 94 nominations have been approved. Nine nominations were rejected, one withdrawn and one is scheduled for an official hearing.

Four Zilla Territorial Constituencies under South district have already gone to Sikkim Democratic Front candidates uncontested. Tulshi Devi Rai has won uncontested in Sorok Shyampani, Farwati Tamang in Mellidara Turuk, Merica Rai in Assangthang Salghari and Phurmit Lepcha in Wok Omchu.

It may be mentioned that the number of candidates in the fray for the Panchayat Election will only be confirmed once the withdrawal process is over on 14 Oct.
