Last minute goal gets Mohun Bagan into Gold Cup semis

Gangtok, 11 Oct:

In a nail biting finish, a goal by Ghanefo Anshumana Kramah in the injury time of the second half got Kolkata giants, Mohun Bagan AC into the semi-final round of the ongoing 37th All India Governor's Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2017 here at Paljor Stadium.

In a neck-to-neck played third quarter-final match on Wednesday, Mohun Bagan edged past Tibetan NSA by a solitary goal to advance further in the tourney.

Both teams received good crowd support till the end of the match. Tibetan NSA players launched some good attacks on their opponent's goalpost in the early minutes of the first half but could not find the back of the net. In return, Mohun Bagan also failed to convert some good opportunities into goals in the first half. The closely played first half ended in a goalless draw.

Attacks and counter-attacks continued from both sides again in the second half. Just as the second half seemed like it would end goalless, Ghanefo Anshumana Kramah scored the winning goal for Mohun Bagan in the additional three minutes time of the match.

With this win, nine time winners and two time runners-up of the tournament, Mohun Bagan AC has secured its berth in the semi-final round of the tournament. The last quarter-final match will be played between Indian Army [Red] and Partha Chakra on Thursday.
