Miss Kalimpong pageant makes a comeback after four decades

Beauty pageant, Miss Kalimpong 2017, will be making a comeback this year after a gap of more than 40 years with 15 participants from Kalimpong district.
Organised by a group of fashion enthusiasts from Kalimpong – “Spot the Trend” - the finale of the pageant is scheduled to be held on 20 Dec at the Centenary Hall in Kalimpong.
With NGO Mani Trust as the main sponsor of the event, the theme of Miss Kalimpong 2017 is “Beauty with a Purpose”.
Chief Executive Officer of Spot the Trend, GyalshenLha, informs that Miss Kalimpong 2017 is the official beauty pageant of Kalimpong.
“Everyone is excited and the whole town is looking forward to the event,” he shared.
He further informed that the contestants are undergoing grooming sessions and promotional activities at present.
“The contestants will be making an appearance tomorrow at a café in Kalimpong town for a promotional event. It will be the first look of the contestants for people here. Miss Kalimpong 2017 is being organised to promote new talents, our rich heritage, history and culture and to celebrate the spirit of feminism and women’s power,” Gyalshen added.
He stressed that the pageant is not just about a beautiful face, but a hunt for someone who can carry the title with elegance and respect.
It may be mentioned here, that GyalshenLhahas had modeling experience in Kolkata and has organized many professional fashion shows in Kalimpong. The contestants for Miss Kalimpong 2017 are being groomed by Gyalshen and his team.
