Salghari Secondary School has topped the DISHA district level achievement test conducted in November for all secondary school students of South district.
South District Administrative Center under the aegis of District Collector (South), Raj Yadav had officially started District Integrated School Help by Administration (DISHA) for providing better and quality education in the district earlier this year.
As a part of various activities chalked out for DISHA, a district level achievement test was conducted in November for all secondary level students.
A committee headed by District Collector [South], Raj Yadav and Deputy Directors of Human Resource Development Department analyzed the results and have announced the results of the achievement test today.
Salghari Secondary School was selected as the best school based on the performances of students. The school emerged at the top of all eight schools and was adjudged the ‘Best Performing School’ based on the test.
Cash prize of Rs 10,000 has been awarded to the school.
In the student’s category, Lata Rai from Omchu Secondary School topped the test with 74% followed by Sandhya Rai and Jeewan Dahal from Pabong Secondary School and Neh Broom Secondary School respectively.
Eight school toppers from each of the participant schools were also identified by the committee.
From Borong Secondary School, Sushma Chettri topped the test while Sandhya Rai of Pabong Secondary School was the school topper.
District toppers Lata Rai, Sushma Chettri and Pranita Tamang were declared school toppers from their respective schools.
Muskan Sherpa from Pabong Daring Secondary School topped her school while Smriti Rai was declared the topper of Sumbuk Secondary School.
From the district’s best performing school, Salghari Secondary School, Smriti Rai was adjudged the topper.
Based on the performances of the students in each subject, Vernacular teacher from Pabong Secondary School, HD Bhutia and Mathematics teacher from Salghari Secondary School, Anup Kumar Biswas were declared as the best teachers.
Best Students [Subject-wise] were also selected by the DISHA team in order to generate a spirit of competition among the students namely Jeevan Dahal of Nehbroom SS [English and Science], Sandhya Rai of Pabong SS [Social Studies], Lata Rai from Omchu SS [Maths] and Roshni Koirala from Salghari SS [Vernacular].
It should be noted that the first achievement test in South Sikkim was conducted in August and analyzed similarly.
Head Masters and teachers of all schools have been instructed to ensure admissions of all students in winter coaching camps to improve the result of board examination in March.
The first pre-board examination for the class X and XII students is scheduled to be conducted in February.
