Grand MINF Senior National Muay Thai Championship 2017 organized by Muay Thai Association of Sikkim under the guidance of Muay Thai India National Federation was inaugurated by SLA Speaker, KN Rai at Jorethang playground today.
The inaugural event was also attended by Area MLA cum Minister of IPR & Health, AK Ghatani, Chairperson Nayabazar Jorethang Municipal Council, Tika Gurung alongside NJMC Councillors, president & executive members of MINF, jury and participants, civil society members and officials from various Government Departments.
The championship has the participation of players from 23 states all over the country namely Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. It is being held in the categories of sub-junior, junior and senior (male and female).
It may also be noted that the championship is being organised under the supervision of RB Rai [Technical Director cum general secretary, Muay Thai Association of Sikkim].
It may be mentioned here that this is the fourth time that the Championship is being held in Sikkim. Furthermore, the championship will conclude on 31 December 2017 and has been hailed as a significant event as it provides an unprecedented platform in the state of Sikkim for selection of Indian Team for international events scheduled to be held in 2018.
