College students to guide children in month long education camp

Gangtok, 04 Jan:

Sikkim Youth Federation kicked off its month long education programme called ‘Guiding Juniors’ at 40 different Gram Panchayat Units of the State from today, a press release from SYF presiden, Arun Tamang informs.

The release further informs that 150 college and university students have volunteered to participate in the programme to teach and guide kids at different GPUs of Sikkim.

The volunteers left for their designated GPUs on 03 Jan after attending a daylong counseling programme about the education camp held at Janta Bhawan in the capital.

The month long education camp is being held to inculcate studying habits in children with classes, lessons and career counseling. The camp will also focus on spreading awareness to the people about various schemes and programmes initiated by the state government under the Right to Education Act, reads the release.

The volunteers are directed to teach English Grammar and its basics, Mathematics among many other topics like Sikkim Tourism, personality development, overall hygiene etc.
