Weeklong karate training camp organised by Dragon Martial Art Karate Association, Darjeeling and supported by Lingsey Pithamchin Karate Committee at Lingsey Pithamchin under Kalimpong District officially wrapped up on 04 Jan at Pithamchin with a grand programme, a press release informs.
The programme was attended by former Horticulture Officer, West Bengal Government, C.B Golay and Sikkim Muaythai Boxing Association President, RB Rai.
Dragon Martial Art chief coach cum international karate judge, Shihan Kul Hari Rai in his address talked about the importance of karate in India and how everyone is taking up the game for self defence and physical fitness. Mr Rai also shared his experiences as a karate enthusiast.
Sikkim Karate and Kick Boxing Association founder, RB Rai talked about the origin of martial arts and informed about Sikkim’s performance in various international and national level championships.
Pranjal Biswakarma, a karate coach from Rangpo, East Sikkim was felicitated with Black Belt (02nd Dan) along with Pravash Pradhan from Rhenock, East Sikkim who received Black Belt (01st Dan) and Leela Kumar Rai of Takathang who received Brown Belt (1st Dan).
Similarly other coaches from Kolkata, Sikkim and other places were also felicitated with various belts.
The programme was also attended by karate trainees and their coaches along with Dragon Martial Art Karate Association members and local residents, reads the release.
