GJM student wing demands B Ed College in Kalimpong


Kalimpong, 05 Jan:

The Gorkha Jan Mukti Vidhyarthi Morcha (GJVM) Kalimpong District committee has placed a demand for a B Ed College in Kalimpong to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration [GTA].

The Committee submitted a memorandum to vice president of GTA, Anit Thapa demanding a separate B Ed College in Kalimpong District.

Informing about the same, president of the committee, Dipen Chhetri said that the students of Kalimpong District either have to go to Siliguri, Darjeeling or Sikkim to pursue B Ed courses. In view of this, we have requested for the establishment of a B Ed college in our district, he said.

The committee has suggested that the land of BT College be used for the B Ed college, he informed.

General secretary of the committee, Ram Prasad Roka said that the GTA Board, who have a vision of improving education in the Hills, have strongly assured to take this matter up.

Mr Roka informed that after the formation

of the committee, their main aim has been the setting up of a B Ed college in Kalimpong and they have started working on that.
