Sikkim visit an emotional experience, says AR Rahman

The third edition of the Red Panda Winter Carnival witnessed a grand opening ceremony today with music maestro AR Rahman being declared as the brand ambassador of the state.
While welcoming Mr Rahman in Sikkim, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling profusely thanked him for accepting to be the Brand Ambassador of Sikkim and for sparing his valuable time to associate with Sikkim.
"It could not have been a better moment to celebrate," said the Chief Minister.
Highlighting about the state, the Chief Minister said that the state celebrates harmony, mutual respect and co-existence and stressed that peace is the greatest resource of the Himalayan state.
While accepting his new role as the brand ambassador of Sikkim, AR Rahman termed his visit as an emotional experience and "something I can cherish for life".
He also added that the visit to the state feels like meeting a long lost family.
Expressing deep pleasure on being the state brand ambassador he hailed the state as an example of authenticity, integrity and peace.
"I am privileged and honoured to be the state's ambassador," he said.
He has also expressed deep satisfaction on his first ever visit to the Himalayan state.
After the official inauguration of the Carnival by the Chief Minister, the audience was treated to colourful cultural performances by artists from different communities of Sikkim and band performances by Sikkim Police Band and Sadam Secondary School Band. The Martial Arts Demonstration also mesmerized the audience as much as the performance by a mass congregation of 100 guitarists.
Earlier the programme began with welcome address by Chief Secretary, AK Shrivastava.
