Would love to use talents of this region: AR Rahman

Brand ambassador of Sikkim, AR Rahman today said that the people, natural beauty of the State and its attitude towards sustainable development are the reasons why he chose to be the brand ambassador for the state.

Speaking at a press conference today, Mr Rahman said that he has many ideas and plan for the state and added that the North-East has so much to offer and now it is time to get it more on the mainstream map. He also said that he was humbled by the hospitality shown by the people of the state and hoped that the journey together would be a beautiful one.

When asked about his plans to promote Sikkim, Mr Rahman stated that there are lots of ideas but it is too early to discuss. He is scheduled to visit different places of the State and to meet the people on Tuesday. He also appreciated the cultural presentations by groups of different communities during the opening session of the carnival.

“I would love to use the talents of the region,” he said.

Mr Rahman was accompanied by MP, Lok Sabha, PD Rai, Minister for Information & Public Relations, AK Ghatani, Mayor GMC, Shakti Singh Chaudhary, Commissioner cum Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Puneet Kansal, Managing Director, Temi Tea Estate, Mrinalini Shrivastav and representatives of various media houses.

MP, Lok Sabha, PD Rai talked about the significance of being the Brand Ambassador of Sikkim and said that the state was honoured to have such a big international icon promote the Himalayan region. He said that Sikkim is ready to surge forward under the leadership of the Chief Minister and that we now have to make concrete plans and execute it.

Minister, Information and Public Relations, AK Ghatani gave the opening remarks where he congratulated the people of the state for cooperating in making the Red Panda festival a success. He also said that Sikkim is honored to host the musical maestro and hopes for a long partnership together.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Puneet Kansal introduced the musical legend and talked about the many roadmaps that the department has charted for further growth of the state.
