Former SBI manager Siliguri branch arrested

Siliguri, 21Mar:

A former bank manager of State Bank of India, Siliguri branch at Hill Cart road, has been arrested on charges of establishing physical relations with a woman under false promise of marriage. The accused was produced before Siliguri Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court (ACJM) today following which he was placed under police custody for 14 days.

The accused identified as, Subhendu Talukdar, a resident of Kolkata, was arrested from Kasba in Kolkata and was produced before the Siliguri court today.

The victim, a divorcee, has alleged that the accused took advantage of her poor financial condition when she approached him for a loan in 2011 when he was a bank manager. He then allegedly lured her with the promise of marriage. Later, he threatened her of dire consequences if she complained to the police.

Meanwhile, advocate, Aloke Das said, “A police complaint was filed at the Siliguri women’s police station by the victim on 09 March. After which the accused was arrested on 20 March and produced before Alipore Sadar civil court, South 24 Parganas where he was ordered two days transit remand and today he was produced before ACJM where the court ordered him 14 days jail custody.”
