World Water Day observed at Rangpo Bazaar JHS
Gangtok, 22 Mar:
Rangpo Bazaar Junior High School at Chanatar in East Sikkim observed World Water Day 2018 at the school assembly ground today. The programme commenced with a short introductory speech by school in-charge, Bhim Sharma, on the importance of the day, a press release informs.
Rishika Subba of Class VIII-A delivered a speech on World Water Day 2018 focussing on its theme, “Nature for Water”.
Graduate teacher [Science], Prakash Sharma, highlighted an initiative of the United Nations to generate awareness regarding conservation of freshwater sources which are declining by the day due to human activity and excessive exploitation of groundwater without preventive and conservation measures.
The programme was attended by the staff and students of the school.
The World Water Day celebration was part of the eco-club calendar activities that enable students to take responsibility for the conservation of natural resources in a sustainable manner.
