Gangtok, 27 Mar:
Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, in association with the State National Service Scheme Cell of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, is organizing a five-day long training for trainers on Life Skills from 27 to 31 March here at Paljor Stadium. 30 NSS programme officers from different schools are participating in the event.
The inaugural function today had Burtuk MLA, DR Thapa, as chief guest accompanied by Secretary, Sports Department, SD Dhakal, as guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Thapa said, “We should work responsibly and positively for the betterment of a society. Follow this path without any distractions or grudges and it will lead towards a better and peaceful world. Teachers should impart the best knowledge and positive thinking to assist the nation-building process as they play a very crucial role. Not just academics, but focus should also be there on skill-based training.”
Likewise, guest of honour, Mr Dhakal, said, “Being a trainer you must practice what you preach. Your actions speak louder than words and the students will follow the same.”
Managing Director of Indian Skills Academy, Anjan Chowdhary, who was one of the resource persons for the programme, expressed, “Providing training to the trainers is not enough. We need to learn from each other and make learning a two-way process which will benefit both the trainees and the trainers.”
It may be mentioned here, the training programme is being sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development [Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India], Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
