GANGTOK, 27 Mar:
On the occasion of Easter Sunday, the United Christian Welfare Society of Sikkim [UCWSS] is organising Easter Prayer Rally on 01 April in the capital. UCWSS is also organising the special screening of a Hindi feature film ‘Back to Dad’ as a part of pre Easter celebration on 31 Mar at Manan Kendra.
This was announced by the UCWSS president, Elder Patrus Gurung, in a press conference here today.
He informed that the rally will be starting from Tadong and is scheduled to end at Bethlehem Church in Development Area after walking along the National Highway with prayers and songs.
“During the rally, members of different churches will pray together for peace, unity and well-being of the people of the State and the world,” he said. He added that churches from Ranipool to Gangtok will be participating in the Easter Prayer rally.
Mr Gurung informed that the rally is being organised after a gap of 3 years and appealed to members of different Churches from in and around Gangtok to join the rally.
On the special screening of ‘Back to Dad’, Mr Gurung informed that it is being organized to celebrate Easter as well as to provide opportunity to local people to watch the movie which mostly has local artists from Sikkim.
The film, presented by Annora Films, is directed by Prabhat Kumar from Mumbai and produced by Anup Gadal from Siliguri.
Timothy Rai, actor and production manager of the film, informed that the first special screening of the film was organised recently at Mumbai and this is the second special screening at Gangtok before releasing in theatres.
The film has Kalpana Bhattarai from Sikkim in the lead along with other local artists like Robin Gurung, Manju Chettri, Sunita Singh, Sneha Rai, Kishore Dungmali, Sashi Kala Pradhan, Chetan Pradhan, Saroj Gurung, Pushpa Mangar and Samjhana Gurung.
Mr Rai urged the public to watch the movie to encourage local artists.
