Mission Directorate, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Rural Management and Development Department organized an orientation session for the team of ‘Swachhagrahis’ who have been selected to be deputed in Champaran, Bihar, for the ensuing ‘Satyagraha Se Swachhagraha’ event, a press release informs.
The session was chaired by Special Secretary cum Mission Director, SBM (Gramin), Anil Raj Rai along with the Deputy Secretary cum State co-ordinator, SBM (Gramin).
Mr Raj in his address congratulated the Swachhagrahis for the opportunity and asked them to maintain the reputation of the State in cleanliness through their efforts in the event.
Sikkim has selected 10 Panchayat Development Assistants, RM&DD who function as Swachhagrahis for their respective GPUs and have done exemplary work in the field of sanitation for the event. The team will be led by Panchayat Inspector, Office of Additional District Collector (Dev.), Pakyong, RM&DD, the release informs.
‘Satyagraha Se Swachhagraha’ event is being organised from 03 to 10 Apr by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Bihar to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha centenary.
About 10,000 Swachhagrahis from across the country, along with another 10,000 Swachhagrahis from Bihar, will be participating in the event, where they will trigger rural communities from 03 to 09 Apr for better sanitation, health and hygiene outcomes. The event will culminate at Champaran on 10 Apr where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Swachhagrahis.
