Four SADA cases in one day
Gangtok, 28 Mar:
Gyalshing police on 27 Mar arrested and booked a 34-year-old man from Mangley, West Sikkim, under Sikkim Anti Drugs Act, 2006, after he was allegedly found in possession of 183 capsules if Spasmoproxyvon and 40 N-10 tablets along with eight bottles of illegal cough syrup. The police were acting on a tip from a source who alleged that the accused was selling the substances to buyers at Pelling. He reportedly revealed to the police that he had bought the substances from Siliguri. After conducting medical examination the accused was arrested and is currently in police custody.
In another SADA case on the same day, two persons in their 20’s were intercepted by Rangpo Police at Mandi Bazaar allegedly looking for prospective buyers. Upon searching their belongings, the police reportedly recovered 56 capsules Spasmoproxyvon and 10 N-10 tablets. Both the accused were later booked under SADA, 2006 and arrested.
Rangpo police on the same day during routine checking of incoming vehicles at Rangpo check-post detained a 30-year-old woman from Tadong, East Sikkim. Upon searching her belongings in front of independent witnesses, the police recovered 923 capsules Spasmoproxyvon and 104 N-10 tablets. The woman has been booked under SADA, 2006.
In the fourth SADA case of the day, a 25-year-old man was intercepted at Jubilee Line in Singtam, East Sikkim, after Police received information from sources that the man was selling contraband substances. On investigation, 278 Spasmoproxyvon capsules were recovered from his belongings. The accused has also been booked under SADA, 2006.
