Coordination meet for Ambedkar Jayanti held in Gangtok
Gangtok, 29 Mar (IPR):
A coordination meeting for the upcoming 127th Ambedkar Jayanti celebration was held today at Manan Kendra, Gangtok.
The meeting chaired by State Health Department Minister and chairperson of the Celebration Committee, AK Ghatani was attended by MLA, Gopal Baraily, Former Minister, AS Baraily, Chairperson Youth Board, KP Dahal, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Department Heads, Officers and Members of All Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Association.
It was informed in the meeting that the state-level function will be held at Paljor Stadium and will be attended by the Governor and Chief Minister of Sikkim.
Former Minister and Member of the Celebration Committee, AS Baraily in his welcome note informed that a football tournament will be held from 03 Apr and the final match will be played on Ambedkar Diwas.
He further informed that the state-level function will have cultural presentations as well as felicitation to individuals who have made a mark in the society in various fields. It was further informed that essay writing competition will also be organised and the winners would be awarded on the day of the celebration.
Mr Ghatani emphasized on the importance of the state-level function and called upon all the Departments to coordinate with the celebration committee to ensure success of the programme. He sought participation from each department and allocated responsibilities to them.
During the discussion, all the departmental heads agreed to lend their support as per the work distribution.
It was informed in the meeting that Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare Department will be the nodal department to coordinate with all other departments, and All Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Association will be actively involved at various levels since the start of the football tournament.
Minister for Social Justice, Tulshi Devi Rai is the vice chairperson of the Celebration Committee.
The meeting was also addressed by Secretary [SJEWD], Sarala Rai and president [ASSCWA], Shekhar Sewa.
