Govt College Rhenock conducts awareness prog on Intellectual Property Rights

Government College Rhenock conducted an awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights today.

The Principal, Dr Iyatta Uprety, in her opening address, highlighted the importance of understanding the concept of Intellectual Property Rights and how one can benefit if she has proper understating about it, an official press release informs.

The Programme was also attended by members from Rhenock Gram Panchayat, members from a local self help group, faculty members and students of the institution.

Dinesh Adhikari, Assistant Professor and resource person for the day, spoke in detail about various types/ aspects of Intellectual Property Rights which encompasses ideas like Patent, Copyrights, Trademarks, Geographical Indication, Trade secrets etc.

Santosh Basnett, Assistant Professor and Nodal officer of Intellectual Property Cell, Government College Rhenock, in turn, deliberated on various issues and concepts related to the topic.

He also conducted an interactive session with the students and fielded a lot of questions.

The Programme was sponsored by Patent Information Centre (PIC), Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Harjit Goshwami, Assistant Professor.
