Foundation stone of Rural Haat laid at Daring


Gangtok, 29 Mar:

The foundation stone of ‘Rural Haat’, a project supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development [NABARD] with NGO Himalayan Educational Society as the implementing agency, was laid at Daring under Temi-Namphing constituency in South Sikkim on 28 Mar in the presence of Zilla Upadhyaksha [South], Bhim Lakhey, as chief guest and General Manager of NABARD, Gangtok, Anjana Lama, as special guest.

Chief guest, Mr Lakhey, in his address, thanked NABARD for supporting the project and helping farmers to sell their organic produce, thus encouraging them towards organic farming.

He urged the farmers and the local public to take full advantage of the facility being provided. He also promised to construct toilet in co-ordination with the Zilla Panchayat under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Rural Haat premises.

Likewise, NABARD GM, Ms Lama, stated that NABARD has always been in support of rural development. She added that due to the strong commitment of Himalayan Educational Society, this Rural Haat is being established for the benefit and welfare of farmers. She urged the people to use the facility to increase their production and earning and to keep the premises clean.
