State and Centre have dishonored SC directions: Sikkim LT Tribal JAC
GANGTOK, 31 Mar: Sikkim Limboo Tamang Tribal Joint Action Committee convened a meeting under the chairmanship of its advisor, Oma Hang Limboo here in the capital on Friday. A press release informs that seven proposals were passed during the meeting.
The meeting proposed to inform the Supreme Court that its direction to immediately resolve the Limboo-Tamang Assembly seat reservation issue has been dishonored by the State and the Centre.
It was also proposed that if the Assembly seat reservation for Limboo-Tamang communities is not provided before the next election, they would not allow the new government to be formed.
It was stated that the government has been unconstitutionally formed three times; in 2004, 2009 and 2014 and LT have been deprived of their rights
The Committee has alleged that the state government has not been sincere in resolving the Assembly seat reservation issue.
The meeting has also unanimously appointed Dhanrup Limboo and Binod Yonzon as its vice-presidents to further strengthen the organisation.
