NBSTC starts Siliguri to Deolo bus service

The state-run NBSTC has started a bus service from Siliguri to Deolo via Kalimpong. Aimed primarily at tourists, but not exclusively for them, this new 30-seater bus started operations today.
The bus starts from Siliguri at 6.30 AM and arrives at Kalimpong at around 9 AM.
After waiting for half hour at the depot here, the bus then proceeds to Deolo as a ferry service charging Rs10 for the ride from Motor Stand to Deolo.
Today,during the inaugural run, students from Jalpaiguri Engineering College arrived on board the bus and expressed that they were thrilled with the ride.
Especially thrilled was a passenger coming in from Siliguri who had to visit Dr Graham’s Homes School and found this convenient and cheap alternative.
“Earlier, after stopping at Motor Stand I had to take a local taxi which would cost Rs 200, but today I reached Dr. Graham’s Homes paying just Rs.105, and that too from Siliguri! This service has saved me money and time. Thanks to those who started the service,” he said.
Many local passengers too were seen taking the bus as it returned from Deolo to Motor Stand. Against the Rs 30 they would a taxi for this ride, the bus costs only Rs 10.
Shekar Khati, the Depot Manager of Kalimpong NBSTC, said, “CM Mamata Banerjee has directed that this service be started.We hope we will get a good response to it.”
