Temi becomes the next paragliding destination

Gangtok, 02 Apr:

The official launch of paragliding at Temi in South Sikkim was held today in the presence of Minister for Roads & Bridges Department cum Area MLA, GM Gurung. An initiative taken up by Temi Tea Estate Management to promote Temi Tea Tourism, the first paragliding flight operated by certified international pilot, Nim Tshering Lepcha, took off from section 1 of Temi tea garden and landed on section 2 of the tea garden.

Addressing the event, Mr Gurung said, “Paragliding tourism is one of the major attractions of the State. Previously, there was only one paragliding maidan in Sikkim, Ranka. With the introduction of paragliding here, Temi will attract tourists and help promote Temi tourism. A Helipad, peace and purity centre and meditation hall will be soon constructed for the area. These projects have already been sanctioned which shall take another 2-3 years to be completed.”

On the same day, cycling session in and around Temi was also officially started.
